Ahhhh, Thanksgiving is next week! I’ve already mentioned a few fall decor finds from Walmart to get your home ready for fall. Today, I’ll be sharing an easy craft, as a part of the Walmart Moms, to add that little something extra to your Thanksgiving Table with craft supplies that one can find at Walmart. This Turkey Place Card Holder is actually made out of a clear ornament! One can use it to hold the name of a guest or just as a table decoration. If using this craft as a place card holder, guests can take the craft home with them after dinner as a party favor.

First, I needed to gather my supplies. So with the giftcard provided, I went to my local Walmart and picked up what I needed to make a Turkey Place Card Holder for my Thanksgiving Table.

What You’ll Need:
- prices from Walmart
- Large Round Clear Plastic Ornament ($.88)
- Foam Sheets: red, orange, yellow, brown, black ($.33 each)
- 2 22mm Wiggly Eyes
- Gold Glitter ($2.77)
- Beacon Glitter It! Adhesive ($4.64)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
- Small Funnel
- Paper Towels
How to Make a Turkey Place Card Holder
- Remove the top of the plastic ornament and set it aside. Next, pour a little bit of the Beacon Glitter It Adhesive directly inside of the ornament. Place a folded up paper towel onto the end of the ornament, hold it in place while you carefully swirl the adhesive inside of the ornament. You want the adhesive to coat the entire inside of the ornament. Once the inside is coated, turn the ornament upside down so the excess adhesive can drain out onto a paper towel. Once drained, with a funnel carefully pour in enough glitter to cover the inside of the ornament. Just like with the adhesive, swirl the glitter around to coat the inside and dump out the excess into a trashcan. Set aside to dry while you work on the rest of the craft.
- Cut out a 4 inch circle out of the Black Foam Sheet. I used my small funnel as a guide by first tracing the funnel lightly with a pencil and then cutting it out. Use the opening in the ornament as your guide for tracing a circle in the center of your black circle. Do not cut out the circle in the center instead cut an “X” from one side to the other. To make sure you’ve cut your “X” wide enough place it on the opening of the ornament, if it won’t fit cut a tiny bit more until you can push the end of the ornament through the hole like shown in the picture.
- Remove the black circle and set it aside while you make the feathers for our turkey. I just simply cut out feather-like shapes about 4 inches long out of each of the colors of foam sheets (red, yellow, orange, brown). Cut two of each color. Also cut out a small yellow triangle for the beak of our turkey and a small “L” shaped piece out of the red foam sheet for the red part above the turkey’s nose.
- Next, carefully hot glue the foam feathers onto the black circle making sure to place the feathers above the opening for the end of the ornament. I placed my feathers in two layers in an AB pattern so the back layer has orange and brown and the layer above that is alternating red and yellow.
- Once the glue has cooled place the black circle onto the opening of the ornament. To secure it in place, bend the prongs on the cap outward, place the two metal pieces back inside of the ornament, and place the cap back onto the opening of the ornament. Bend the prongs over the black foam for a secure fit.
- Next, carefully hot glue the turkey’s wiggly eyes, yellow triangle beak, and red part onto the center of the ornament opposite of the feathers.
- Although our “tail feathers” help to keep our turkey from rolling on a table to make him a bit more secure, I also cut out a 3-inch foot pad out of yellow foam and hot glued it to the bottom of our ornament as our turkey’s feet. This helps keep our round ornament from rolling.
- If desired, make a place card and place it before the feathers on our Turkey. I think this Turkey Place Card Holder looks especially cute sitting in the center of a plate where a guest will sit.

I absolutely love the way that this Turkey Place Card Holder turned out. I think they are so cute! I also like that they are not that expensive to make with supplies that one might already have on hand or are found at Walmart.
